Let It Be Well

NewBeginningsGMC

But this is what I commanded them, saying, “Obey My voice and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.” - Jeremiah 7:23 NASB.

Have you ever felt unsettled despite trying various ways to find peace? You might have traveled, pursued relationships, taken jobs, attended school, turned to substances like drugs or alcohol, or engaged in hobbies and shopping, yet that lingering sensation remains. Could it be that you're not tuning in to God's voice and what He wants to communicate to you?

Perhaps you once encountered God in a profound way, but since then, nothing else has felt as significant. Life has seemed more interesting outside of that experience, leading you to believe that simply being a good person, praying only when in need, and adhering to a personal code would suffice. I often lived this way, excusing my discomfort and justifying my choices.

Even now, as I find myself distracted by business, His voice urges me to pause and reflect on a stirring question: “What’s the worst that could happen if I obey His voice, aside from the possibility that it may be well with me?” Whatever we cling to that obstructs our desire to follow God's will or hear His voice, He can assist us in letting it go and sorting it out. If we are willing to listen, obey, and trust His word, then all will be well with us. Consider what you stand to gain by releasing your unsettled heart; becoming one of His people is far better than any comfort or pleasure we might find on earth.

Heavenly Father, You are a loving and patient God. You stand at the door of our hearts and knock, wishing that we would hear Your voice and open the door to You. You tell us that You will come into us and dine with us and us with You. May we take the time to stop and listen to Your voice and turn down the noise of our everyday lives to do so. May Your will be done.
