When Our Well Runs Dry

Writer's picture: NewBeginningsUMCNewBeginningsUMC

“… So, Jesus being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.” – John 4:6 (NASB)

There are days when I feel as though my well has run dry, and the weariness I face can intensify from one day to the next. I find comfort knowing I do not need to feel guilty for being in a wearied state from my own journey, because Jesus became wearied from His journey.

When He sat by the well in His weariness, He shared with a woman that came to draw water from the well that “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water I will give Him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” Verses 13-14

We will become weary at times in this life, but we can rest assured that we have within us a well of water springing up to eternal life. Rest and sit by the well that will quench your thirst as you journey on the road you face today; Jesus is waiting for you and will refresh your soul.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You relate to humanity and the struggles we face (Hebrew 2:10-14), thank You that You came to give us hope and a future with You. (Jeremiah 29:11)
